June was looking unusually quiet at the beginning of this year. We had no weddings to shoot at home, no plans to take off for the next adventure. But a few last minute inquiries got us thinking about Europe. We connected with friends, made plans, and booked flights and ferries. We made ready our gear and prepared ourselves for the three weddings and one elopement we’d been invited to document. And just like that: a quiet summer in Vancouver became a month-long trip around Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands, and France.
Not that we’re complaining.
Scotland had us driving on single-track roads and exploring the violent landscapes of the highlands: Glen Coe rising up and falling around us; the Isle of Mull and the Isle of Staffa presenting their wide and long faces and the creatures that dwell within their teeth; the Isle of Skye and the Quiraing and the Old Man of Storr giving us pause to consider what truly scrapes the skies. Then there was the west coast of Ireland: Dingle and Connors Pass and the Cliffs of Moher. And a quick hop over to our favourite Amsterdam. Paris, Toulouse, and Pessan in southern France rounded out our European travels this time around.
