Their celebration included beautiful and understated details like a handmade vessel from their talented ceramicist friend and was festive in all the right ways to allow themselves the freedom to let go and fully enjoy themselves and their favourite people.
Our first day will be a simple civil ceremony and brunch with 25 of our closest friends and family. Since New York is where we met and call home, it felt natural to have the city as our backdrop. Though the day will be low-key and without frills, certain moments matter to us—like having a private first look and exchanging personal vows—along with spending meaningful time with our loved ones.
The second day is all about celebration—a 60-person reception at Cafe China. We want to honour our heritage in a way that feels modern, festive, and intimate. Even though we’re the hosts and have spent months planning, we’re looking forward to stepping into the “guest of honour” role, letting go of the details, and simply enjoying the night as we celebrate becoming newlyweds.
It’s an undeniable highlight of my season when I get to reconnect with old friends in another part of the world, and celebrate their friends (my new friends) entering this next phase of life. Grateful doesn’t even begin to describe the invitation to completely immerse myself into their world and be the one to photograph them and those they love.
