Haley & Jon are unapologetically sentimental. So having photographs to look back on, that would pull them into the moment and help them remember the messy emotions and total blur that would be their wedding day in Philadelphia, was deeply important to them.
They also incorporated details that felt extra meaningful: special vow booklets; the same tallit that Jon’s two brothers and their wives were also wrapped and blessed in; the roof of the chuppah having a connection to Haley’s grandfather’s, who has since passed.
From Haley:
It all started back on August 4th, 2018. The two of us were both at Lavo Brunch in NYC, a posh brunch spot-turned-day club scene. Neither of us should have been there, yet we both were. Haley was with her two roommates, wildly hungover after their housewarming party the night before when a random promotor who her roommate knew from interning in the city two summers prior asked if Haley and her roommates wanted to go for free. Of course, they said yes.
Jonathan was there with a college friend of his who happened to work for the Tao Group, the parent company of Lavo. As the day progressed, Jon’s friend got too drunk and left, so Jon decided to stay solo. As the brunch progressed into a wild club in the middle of the day, Haley looked out to see a crowd of older men who were wearing way too much cologne and one fratty-looking Jewish boy walking in circles. He eventually came up to Haley, and the first thing he asked was “Are you Jewish” to which she responded, “Yeah, how’d you know?!”
As we were getting ready to move to the next spot of the day, Haley’s roommates asked if she was ready to leave. She made sure to say: “We have to wait for that guy Jon, I think I just met my husband!” and the rest was history.
